Happy New Year 2011!

happy-new-year-2011-974602 (1)

A new year is coming up and I’d like to wish you all a happy new year. As with every new year, 2011 brings much promise. One of my resolutions this year is to write in this blog and post up reviews more often in the new year. This year I’ve been slacking off and only posting about once a month (eek!) but I promise I will work on being better next year.

For now, enjoy the party, don’t drink and drive and have a good time!

Brush Guard Variety Pack

I’m sure you’ve heard from The Brush Guard. They are a pack of mesh tubes to keep your brushes in to prevent fraying or “kembang” bristles. I decided to try it out and got myself the variety pack from Ryan @ sgdrugstore on LYN.

IMG_0564

The Variety pack consists of SIX (6) different brush guards:

  • 1 x Shadow/Liner (1/4” extra small)
  • 2 x Blush (3.8” small)
  • 2 x Foundation (5/8” medium)
  • 1 x Powder/kabuki (1” large)

As I don’t have many brushes, I split the pack with my sister who has more brushes. I took the extra small, medium and large brush guards. My little ELF Kabuki fits nicely into the large one. One tip about the brush guards is that you can use them to dry your brushes upright, bristles down so that your brushes retain their shape as they dry. This tip was from Michelle Phan in one of her videos.

I guess the question is, should you get it? My answer is YES. Especially if you have lots of expensive brushes, you would want to keep them in the best condition to make it last longer. I use cheap brushes (because I mostly use my fingers) and I find these brush guards very useful to keep the shape of the bristles/hairs when my brushes are in my makeup bag.

Where to get it:

What are your tips to keeping your brushes in good condition?

Been busy

Sorry I’ve been on such a long haitus on this blog. I’ve been very busy at my new job (well about 3-4 mths old) and really need to sort out my time at work, personal life and blogging.

I try to update my main blog – http://me.zestful.org – as often as I can, especially when I get invites for events but I promise that I will get cracking on reviews for this blog soon.

So many products to review, but so little time! Hang on to your horses, coz there will be an even coming up this weekend.

Meanwhile, check out my blog post on the Anya Hindmarch Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection Tea Party by clicking on the photo of bags below

Lush UK Haul to Malaysia

IMG_0563

I’ve heard so much about Lush that I decided to just buy a few items. I didn’t get to buy it when I was in Perth because the shop was closed :( so got it online shipped all the way from UK to Malaysia.

Two things to remember when buying Lush online

  1. Its gonna be expensive coz of shipping and what not
  2. The items are handmade so don’t go and buy things like the masks which are made fresh because when you finally receive it, it’ll be moldy. Disgusting I know but it’s happened to some friends.

So anyway, I took the plunge and ordered the following from ‘sgdrugstore’ in Lowyat Forum. Prices in RM are the prices he quoted me as of May 2010.

  • The Joy of Jelly = GBP 2.80 (RM28+)
  • Demon in the Dark = GBP 2.85 (RM28.27)
  • Charity Pot Trial Size = GBP 1.00 (RM11.56)
  • Aromarant = GBP 4.00 (RM 35.24)

More detailed review of each soon!

Baviphat booth in e@curve

Was lining up for tickets and saw a counter promoting Baviphat. Baviphat is this Korean brand that just launched here - I believe they hv a booth in Parkson Pavillion.

So anyway they're promoting their products especially the fruits mask. Also if you buy any item at the booth, you get the sheet masks for Rm 3.90 (retail price is RM 10.90)

There's a promo for EM 79.90 for these items (worth RM 90+):
  1. Any fruit mask (they have 5 different tubs - mango, peach, lemon, apple & strawberry). Retail price = RM49.90
  2. Any Lip Balm (apple or lemon). Retail price = RM20
  3. Paprika hand cream. I forgot to ask the retail price for this
The SA also gave me a small bottle of BB cream (worth rm50) for buying the package. Awesome right?
I also grabbed two sheet masks - Strawberry & Tomato. Sadly she didn't give me samples though she said she would (guess she forgot :( )

Here's the brochure for the fruit masks
